Healthy Chocolate Spread Recipe, Better than Nutella

Dear Chocolate Lover,

This is for you. This chocolate is so much richer, healthier, and dare I say more delicious than Nutella. I'm a huge chocolate lover and I can't sleep at night thinking I can't enjoy a healthy chocolate spread. 

So here it goes!

I dug deep to find that healthy chocolate spread that you can enjoy on top of your toast, rice cake, chia pudding, in a spoon as a snack. So I got it and it's delicious. It gives you that intense chocolate satisfaction that i know you will love. 

It's a 4 ingredient recipe and so easy to make. It doesn't have refined sugar or oil, just healthy delicious ingredients to make it very filling and satisfying. 

Keep in mind, there are many recipes out there that include ingredients like stevia, erythritol etc to change the texture and make it creamier, personally, I prefer to keep it simple so you can make this chocolate spread at home. 

This will definitely be one of the recipes I will be adding to the next recipe book I will be making with my sister Mirna, after Super Recipes. I hope you enjoy it. 

Healthy Chocolate Spread Recipe, Better than Nutella

Ingredients

  • 1 cup roasted hazelnuts
  • 1/3 cup of 100% cocoa powder
  • 1/3 cup of coconut/hazelnut or any milk
  • 1/3 cup of maple syrup 
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven at 200 C. Put the hazelnuts on parchment paper for 10 minutes. Take them out, remove the skin by rolling them around in a paper towel. 
  2. When they're done, put them in the processor and process until creamy (might take around 10 minutes). So process, pause, scrape, repeat until you get the a creamy oily texture. 
  3. Add the cocoa powder gradually, pulse, and add the rest slowly. 
  4. Add the maple syrup gradually, pulse and add the rest slowly. They will get crumbly in this step, don't freak out. 
  5. Add the rest of milk and salt as the final step and pulse pulse pulse. 
  6. Pour into an airtight container and store in the fridge for a week (if it lasts).

Notes

  • Find pictures of the process below. 
  • I advise that you taste it after it has cooled in the fridge and it tastes better and better day after day. 
  • You can add a bit more maple syrup to make it sweeter.
  • You can replace maple syrup with honey. 
  • You can add 1-2 tbsp of milk to make it creamier.
